To me, I never figured Devin would really be upset by discovering his past self was kind of a jerk mainly because there is no emotional empathy in which to really connect with his past self. In a way its like the equivalent of a upper middle class businessman sitting down to read the newspaper and there being an article about how there was an attack with seven dead in a country far far away that will never affect his life. And he'd sip his coffee and go "thats really tragic" because it is...but there is no real emotional impact there.But that's just my perspective and really everyone is different.
